Carlos gaviria
Bass
Dr. Carlos Gaviria is an on demand performer, educator and adjudicator, currently serving as Lecturer on the faculty of Stephen F. Austin State University where he teaches Double Bass and Music Theory. He previously taught at the University of Houston and the University of North Texas. He has presented masterclasses and performed in orchestras in North and South America, and Europe.
A native of Cali, Colombia, Carlos began his musical education at the Conservatorio Antonio Maria Valencia, continuing it at University of North Texas, where he completed the B.M. and M.M. with Jeff Bradetich and the University of Houston, where he completed the DMA. While at UNT, he worked as a teaching assistant to the world-renowned bass teacher Jeff Bradetich.
Carlos resides in Texas with his wife, pianist Janice Fehlauer and his two beautiful daughters, Camila and Lulu.
