Praised for her expressive artistry and compelling stage presence, Spanish pianist Dr. Andrea Benabent has captivated audiences across Europe, Asia, and the United States. A laureate of numerous international competitions—including First Prize at the 8th Brilliant Talent Discovery Awards in Singapore, the II Franz Liszt Center Piano Competition in Spain, and the “Mestre Serrano” Competition in Valencia—she has appeared in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Juilliard School of Music’s Paul Hall in New York, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Wortham Theater Center and Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston, Duke’s Hall in London, and Palau de la Música in Valencia. 

Dr. Benabent earned her Doctorate in Piano Performance at the University of Houston, supported by a full scholarship, under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Staupe and Dr. Tali Morgulis. She previously studied at the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music in Madrid and Sam Houston State University with Elena Orobio and Josu de Solaun, First Prize winner of the XIII George Enescu International Piano Competition. 

An advocate for Spanish music and culture, she is Artistic Director of the Westbury Performing Arts Series in Houston. In addition to her classical work, Andrea is a passionate enthusiast of flamenco. She explores the genre through her compositions and arrangements, with recent collaborations including Solero Flamenco, Aperio – Music of the Americas, and the Houston Symphony Chorus. She is a faculty member of AFA (American Festival for the Arts) as a Teaching Artist and a recipient of a 2024/2025 grant from the Houston Arts Alliance.
